At the age of 69, Antonio Trevn, the former president of the Principality of Asturias, passes away

The socialist was a member of the "teachers' clan," a group of educators who were connected to the pedagogical renewal movements and were becoming more politically involved. After a prolonged illness that lasted for several months, Antonio Trevn Lombán, the former president of the Principality of Asturias and one of the most prominent figures of Asturian socialism in recent decades, passed away on Tuesday at the age of 69 at his residence in Llanes. Trevn held a number of institutional positions throughout his political career, including mayor and councilor in Llanes, deputy in the General Assembly and Congress, and government delegate in Asturias. He has been a member of the PSOE (Spanish Socialist Workers' Party) since 1982. He replaced Juan Luis Rodrguez-Vigil as head of the Asturian government from 1993 to 1995 and served as the government delegate in Asturias from 2004 to 2011. Sincere condolences for Trevn's passing. Adrián Barbón, President of the Principality, posted a message of condolences on his X profile, stating that Trevn's story "is linked to the history of Asturias." Following this, Barbón made the announcement that he had given orders for him to be paid "all the honors that correspond to him in his capacity as President, decreeing three days of official mourning in Asturias and that all flags outside public buildings fly at half-mast." Barbón said that he had given orders for Barbón to do this. Trevn was also mourned by the Asturian Socialist Federation, which described him as "a decisive figure in the advancement and modernization of Asturias." "For the Asturian Socialist Federation (FSA-PSOE), Antonio Trevín is an example of political commitment, hard work, and the promotion of progressive policies aimed at improving the living conditions of citizens and the advancement and development of his municipality, Llanes, and his community, Asturias," the party stated in a press release.

Born in Avilés on February 27, 1956, he worked as a teacher at the schools of Hontoria and Purón , in Llanes, around 1980. With a degree in History and a member of the PSOE since 1982, he was part of the group of teachers known as the "teachers' clan", linked to the pedagogical renewal movements and with a growing political involvement.
